Abstract

This paper presents a brief exposition of methodology and approaches in water quality management and simulation analysis for three study areas with distinct features varying in size from 40 to 122,000 hectares (ha) in Malaysia. It shows how water quality management simulations contribute towards management and operational decisions regarding three separate issues; namely the banning of logging in water catchment areas, the sustainable development of a township, and the efficient operation of a reservoir. Three distinct numerical simulation models, one for each case, were used to provide relevant water quality predictions pertinent to the three distinct studies essential to management decisions.
